Each by the case
Woodlands Wilyabrup Valley Emily
Like all red wines at Woodlands, this wine was destemmed and sorted by our gravity fed system. Once harvested and in the winery, the fruit was delivered to the de-stemmer by a vibrating hopper, where the stems are removed by a swinging motion. Once destemmed, the fruit passed over a vibrating sorting table. Following fermentation this wine was matured in 300L French oak hogsheads for 14 months, of which twenty three percent were new.
The ‘Emily’ is a blend of 45% Cabernet Franc, 44% Merlot, 7% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot. The nose is lifted, generous and complex- Blackcurrant, red liquorice and mulberry feature in a nose of plush intensity, while fragrant aromas of wild thyme, crushed violet and a touch of orange citrus bring the story together. A spirited palate of vibrant red fruits and a mingling of subtle spices are sheathed by beautiful tannin. Combined with subtle earthy notes and a touch of fine mildly toasted oak, the finish is flavourful and long.
The ‘Emily’ is a wine of eloquence and intrigue that can be drunk now or be rewarded with cellaring.
